#26 Re: Feature Requests » Thumb extract mode default frame number option? » 2014-08-25 13:05:32

I think it would be a great option and a huge time saver!

Thats a lot of data that needs to be stored in the database...

Which idea would be a lot of data in the database? I thought that the idea of automatically selecting a thumbnail from the middle of the video instead of the first frame would be no different than the way it is now (data wise).

Eri - I love that idea! Just an image rotator by itself (with no click counter) would be awesome for me.

I would like to be able to automatically choose a thumbnail other than the first thumb as the default after the thumbs have been extracted. An option in the "Thumb extract mode" page could be titled "Default Thumbnail (1-20):", and the option would be a number (like the number for the 5th thumbnail in the list of 20 extracted). I just get a lot of black thumbnails, or thumbnails that are not enticing simply because it is the screenshot of the first frame of the video.

Another thought, Can the thumbnails be put on random while browsing the site? xvideos seems to do this. When you see a video thumbnail then refresh the page, that same thumbnail actually changes to a different one. I would love that feature! I would never have to worry about which thumb to choose as the default again.

Every time I try to change the thumb extract option to another (split, consecutive, random) and click save, it always reverts to the default option which is "split". I'm not sure if this is a bug or my own configuration. Any way to fix this? Anyone else have this issue?

Cool, later on when I purchase the dedicated server, I'll probably pay the $50 to have you install the script for me properly. smile

There is no need to change to libav. I have never tested libav (i guess on debian its recommended...). You get the CPU spike because the conversion is done after the upload. The timeout happens because there are some settings in Apache or FCGI that need to be changed.

If I changed from an unlimited shared server to a dedicated server would I be able to change these settings as needed to resolve this issue? I think that is my last resort.

Problem is resolved for now.

FWI - They had to change from ffmpeg to libav (/opt/icert/bin/avconv) in the video config. My uploads still timeout in the end, but the videos do upload and play correctly. The only issue I'm facing now, is the cpanel cpu spike to 100% during or just after the upload. If I get any answers to that (to help anyone else with this same issue) I'll post the findings for everyone.

To be completely honest with you, I would always stay away from shared web hosting that has unlimited everything. They always have some sort of catch and since adult websites can gain a lot of traffic in a short period of time, I would advise you to have a backup plan. Also, if you are just starting out then don't waste money in webhosts. Go on localhost or in other words, play around on wamp or something then when you are ready then rent/buy a server. This way you will save some money at the same time and avoid SE from caching messed up stuff.

I do agree with you. I thought I would try it out just to keep things cheap for myself while getting started.

After contacting my hosting company, I finally got everything showing green in system check. Now:
-WMV files upload perfect
-MP4 videos will not upload at all!

What would cause only mp4 videos to fail??

Thanks for the quick reply. I actually did correct all of the issues except for "Maximum Execution Time". I contacted my host and am waiting for their reply. I'll try to post later when I figure it out.

I have the same problem. I am signed up with Certified Hosting (http://certifiedhosting.com/unlimited-web-hosting) using a shared server since they said their server could handle your script easily. But I see lots of yellow flags in my system check. Can I fix this or do I need to change hosting plans? System Check

Perfect! Thank you for the quick reply. I remember seeing a video package advertised by one of the sites I was going to become an affiliate with. This makes perfect sense now.

I'm new at this and was curious if you have to pay out royalties for the viewing of full adult movies when a customer subscribes to the premium membership? I would like to purchase the Premium Membership Module but not if I don't know how to pay out royalties.
