Is there a way around this? how would I go and upload our picture collection? we have around 200k pictures there's no way we could add them one by one

Currently there is no way to actually mass upload pictures/photos. This feature will be added in the future.

Ok I suggest integration with gallery2 then, sadly I will have to continue using gallery2

We will create a small module that will allow you to upload photos via FTP and via archive.
