AJAX notification
When users PM each is there some sort of way of having a notification pop up.

This is not so easy to do. You can get a email if you receive a message.

Agreed on this. Perhaps a huge for not much convenient. Plus if a user is offline, it's an extra work I think to have it popped up once logged in.
Email works great I think.
