(I know we talked in chat - but wanted to confirm this here.)
After a user signs up it should take them to a screen that tells them they need to verify via their email address. (Also, a reminder to check their spam.)
Also, as a user signs up, if there is an error, it should save the information that was already entered.

Should be I think. But I don't think this is a must tho. It would be a good one to be corrected but overall, I would say these could be classified as low in priority. Just a thought.
I know your hot Pornogoddess.

Just part of the package to make 1.0 whole I think - ya know? Our communities are important. It's what brings users back. Having access to them via email is a must. Making sure there is no confusion during the sign up process is a priority (at least in my head.)
Every potential customer counts. Remember - we may be smart enough to know that we may need to look for a verification email - but the average user may not.
Right now - if I have verification enabled - the user is brought to the home screen after signup with no direction as to how to login. It's broken. Everything needs to be laid out PERFECTLY for the average user.
To slightly quote a movie - we need to think of our users and potential users as brain damaged mules lost in the desert. They are helpless, dumb and in constant need of direction. We need to show them the path so they are able to become our customers.
Thanks for calling me hot...

I will re-test the user process.

Hmmm...i tested and here's how it works:
1. If email verification is not enabled, users are automatically logged in after they signup. The default page is the user Dashboard.
2. If the email verification is enabled, users get a message: Your account was created! Please check your email for the verification link!
Is this good enough? (from my point of view, it is).

Adrian maybe you can add something like
You'll need to activate your account! We require that you validate your registration to ensure that the email address you entered was correct!
to the registration form. We often see that invalid email addresses are used.

The Verification message can be changed from Admin -> Extend -> Language Manager -> your-language -> user. Every text can be changed, unless i missed it by mistake and its not in the language file.
