What do you think about our forum?

Hi,

After a one hour discussion with a new client and at the same time old friend (i've worked for him a few times during the past 1 year), he stated that he will not join this forum because it runs fluxbb. So i have to ask this:

Do you feel like we need vbulletin for our forum? Do you get all the right answers with this forum (fluxbb)? Do you need any features that vbulletin has and fluxbb doesnt?

My personal opinion:
- i like fluxbb
- the forum is for community support and discussions
- the most important features are there (topics/rss/syntax for code/bbcode)
- fluxbb is quite simple to use (easy interface, usable)
- i feel like getting vbulletin is like buying a limo in a city with a lot of traffic and no parking space, where a small electric car would be better :-) (i had a lot of coffee today)

WTF?! Vbulletin is a beast, a resource hog compared to this!
All those bells and whistles are unnecessary for something as simple as a customer support forum.

WTF and OMG

FluxBB is a great piece of Software. It works.
I cannot understand why he does not want to join. The Reason is a Forum Software ? Sorry, but: LOL

Vbulletin has more "eyecandy" thats true, but it does the same as FluxBB - It is a discussion forum, nothing more, nothing less.

But i sometimes miss a more comfortable editor BBcode Buttons and so on, you know what i mean.

I'm running vB 3.8.4 as a forum on a site of mine and it works fine. vB is well suited if it has a good flow of traffic, then it's somewhat justifiable to have a few of the "bells and whistles".
For something like this forum Fluxbb fits perfectly. There isn't a whole lot of traffic (as yet) and it's 'clean' and serves it's purpose well.
I don't think there's any need for eye candy for something like this.

The forum is fine at all - no reason to pay a lot of $$$ for another forum software

I´m running as well a vBulletin forum as an Invision Power Board... IPS is my absolutely fav of these two lol

Maybe you can make a non public section for registered customers only where we can deeper discuss ideas, probs, exchange experiences etc...

On a different note, maybe we could get a title for verified owners of the script so we know who is who, so to speak.

Yeah, I was thinking more of something that when you buy the script or symtab has verified your license, it could be added to your profile - like a badge or something. Would be nice if under your username or next to it, it said verified or such. Just something quick and easy when we are reading posts or in the marketplace to know that you are legit.
