Most Wanted Modules

Hi,

I'm trying to work with someone to extend our current version with new modules, while i work on the next major version of the script. Which would be
the most wanted modules: blog, game?

playlists - so users can put videos in their favorite list and play them in continuous playback

other than that (not sure if that's part of the core), advanced usergroups (moderators with different levels of access), mobile module which would be easier to customize and a flexible home page (with blocks where we can arrange different sections like recent vids, announcements etc)

The playlists are already included, however they only work for the hosted videos. For embedded videos, its kinda impossible to make a good playlist. Advanced usergroups i've already implemented in the next major version. Also frontpage next major version.

Channels could be added.

@xpornclub: how do you see this alternate mobile module work and why do you think a alternate one is required.

@xpornclub: i tend to agree, however that would be a lot of work and i'm already working on something like that for the next major version (there will be no more mobile separate template, only one main template that will be responsive).

There are classes to differ tablet from mobile, but none is perfect and it always can happen that it won't detect device properly. Simply there is too much different browsers , too much devices, new everyday. Not every producent cares enough how his device is seen by many different browsers. There is no one solid standard.

well as long as the template is responsive (bootstrap?) and the videos are mobile friendly, there might not bee a need for different versions, or am I wrong?
As for the playlist, I've tested it but the player doesn't come up, I can add vids to playlists but cannot play them back, where the player would be it just stays empty. Might be an issue with adobe media server streaming?

For the blog purpose, you can probably use Wordpress for now and just embed it into the site .. that's one aspect that we are doing as well.

For the question on responsive design .. you won't need a separate mobile or tablet version if you're using a typical responsive design. Just need to take into effect how the site will look on different sizes.. We use responsive design on all of our client sites (non-adult/non-tube.. mostly ecommerce).

Not a good idea,for me,i monetize mobile with some adv tipe/pop unders and dskt with other,is much more better.
Let the mobile theme build in and let us (and users) the possibility to choose the behavior of the themes.
I will not update to 2.0 if this is the way.

Best for me are different themes for mobile,tablet,tv but i immagine that is a huge work to build.

The theme will adapt to the resolution/device. Also you will be able to display ads based ont he device. We will see once its finished, maybe i will also build a separate mobile theme.

This will be very interesting!! have the flex to serve different ads based on device is vital right now,also Smart TV will be very soon a big part of the game (i`m going to buy one right now :-)) ), so... if different ad spaces are on "<body>" also different POP unders (?!).

Yes, i've created similar sites for clients. The themes use bootstrap. I will probably be able to show the first version in like 1 month and then we decide if we need separate m.domain.com or everything on one template (mobile by default, tablet and then desktop, this is what google recommends). I guess best way would be to have responsive by default and separate mobile m.domain.com for sale.

Hey Adrian!

would it be possible to allow videos to be "reposted" like on pinterest/tumblr? Let's say there is a really great video that was uploaded months ago and instead of re-uploading the same stuff, it would be great to "repost" it, so that only the thumb appears new but any new likes, comments etc. get credited to the original uploader. We have the problem that some great videos get re-uploaded - which is great for users but the original uploaders complain about it. If their work would be "reposted" so that they get the likes and comments, they'd be happy :-D
I think more social features like that would make the content more interactive and fun.
