How to hotlink thumbnails from embedded videos?

I currently use the mass csv importer for for importing hundreds of thousands of videos from other tube sites. Whats killing my server, is the space required for all of the images. If I did not have to save the thumbs on my server, I could import millions of videos instead of thousands. I would like to edit the grab.php file to change it from downloading the thumbs, to hotlinking the thumbs instead. Is this possible? What code would I need to change?

I dont recommend doing this. If the parent site changes the thumb location (and this happens) you lose all your videos. How are the thumbs killing your server?

The space required for all of the thumbs is huge after embedding 100+ videos especially if I am using rotating thumbs. I only have enough money to run a VPS with 50gb of storage space at the moment, so I am trying to find a smart method of embedding as many videos as possible on my site and not using too much of my server's resources. My plan is simple, I want to embed ALL of the videos from xvideos (5 million+), YOBT, PornHub, Tube8, and any others I can find in order to have one of the largest tube "search engines" on the web. I want surfers to be able to use my site to search many popular tube sites all at once and have the ability to rate, favorite, create playlists, have friends, etc., while viewing the video right on my own site. If the image directory changes from popular tube sites I'm embedding from, or a video is deleted which removes the image, it's ok because my users should flag those videos. With such a large database, I'm sure many videos will need to be deleted regularly.

I'm still ok with using this method. If it fails like you said, then I will revert back to downloading the images.
Are you willing to help me out with the code for this?

Where is this 3tb server? That would really help me out! To have that much space on my server, it would cost me around $300-$400 per month.
