Tried to reproduce this and it works. What i did (and it worked in both cases):
1. Admin -> Advertising -> Add (added a text advertising) and then edited it. Worked.
2. Admin -> Advertising -> Sponsors -> Add (added sponsor and new text advertising) and then edited the text advertising. Worked.

Can you please explain how to reproduce the error?

Advertising->Sponsors->Manage->Edit

Text Advertising = None
Media Advertising = None

Thats for the Flash player, which was not added. If you add a normal text advertising it appears selected. You also tested with the flash player and it doesnt work? I just tested on my box and it works.

I am talking about the sponsors below the flash player where it can be image,text or javascript/html... once I add a "text".. I have no way to edit it

You edit it from Admin -> Advertising -> Edit. Hmm....this works for me.
