Tried to install Sphinx on Centos 5.8 and had some problems. If you are running into problems, then read this post.
Got these errors
error: Failed dependencies:
libmysqlclient.so.15 is needed by sphinx-2.0.5-1.rhel5.i386
libmysqlclient.so.15(libmysqlclient_15) is needed by sphinx-2.0.5-1.rhel5.i386So, I needed to install
wget http://mirrors.dedipower.com/www.mysql.com/Downloads/MySQL-5.5/MySQL-shared-compat-5.5.23-1.rhel5.i386.rpmthen
rpm -ivh MySQL-shared-compat-5.5.23-1.rhel5.i386.rpmthen
wget http://sphinxsearch.com/files/sphinx-2.0.5-1.rhel5.i386.rpmthen
rpm -ivh sphinx-2.0.5-1.rhel5.i386.rpmand finally got it installed.
