Server spiked at 100Mb/s limit please help.

I'm using RTMP streaming and on google analytics real-time I see about 60 visitors at a time. But I have a really good server, the cpu is only at 6% my server has E3 1230v2+32GB Ram+2TB HD+Cpanel+Centos 6 64bit+30TB But its limit is 100Mb/s connection. And it appears to be maxed out. Can someone tell me if this is normal or what can I do to fix it? Also it seems to me like it needs to buffer the full length of the video before it will play. Adrian told me that their is no setting to change buffer length for it.

It is normal, because the bandwidth is not enough for that amount of visitors live (streaming at the same time). Usually 1gbps costs like 200-300$ these days. The crtmpserver does not have any way to cap the bandwidth for each connection (or i didnt find any way to do it in the documentation). If you want you can switch to wowza or adobe media server, but i think the best way to go about this is a either another sevrer for streaming only or to upgrade this server's bandwidth.

Yeah they told me to upgrade it would be $120 more per month for the 1gbps connection. That would make it $280 per month for the server. I do think im going to try to upgrade the speed. But then how many visitors will it be able to handle?

The other thing I wanted to ask is it possible that people are trying to download my videos using a program and that is why its spiked?

RTMP prevents people from downloading your videos. I can check if the files are protected from download via apache. Please send me ssh access. With 1gbps, you will probably be able to have online 400-500 visitors (but once you have that many online, you will need a better server, but dont worry, you will make money). Checkout our advertising threads and see what others use for better income generation.

Lol im not worried about making money. I redirect the traffic to my live cam site. Last month I made $1500 from it. If I had more quality traffic I could make much more, lots of my traffic is from China, and Korea.

I checked. Your media files can only be accessed via RTMP.

ok good. It seems much better. Same amount of traffic but its not hitting the limit. You did not change anything right? Its perfect now for some reason

Hahhahah...i did not change anything. Its just one of my powers, when i touch a server it starts working perfectly :-) I'm reading x-men comics from my childhood :-)

I got a question, sometimes when the server is slow. It gives the rtmp error on the player. Is there a way we can add a refresh button that only refreshes the player to try again. Because almost every time I reload the page the video plays the next time.

I was using Nginx but it was having lots of issues. so we switched to RTMP streaming. Much faster video loading. But uses more bandwidth.
