if i change the size of the thumbs via admin and regenerate it dosent fit in the template its too big what else do i have to change

If you change the video thumb size in the Admin Panel you have to change your entire template (probably css only, in 90% of the cases).

It all depends on your template and what thumbs you want the size to have. If you use the default templates, you need to use the defaul thumb size (unless you modify the template).
